So some of the highlights for the first year students in the College of Business is not only are you going to jump right into business classes, but you're also going to start your own business from beginning to end. And you'll also get some experience in business law classes. So you're getting a total package of business classes as well as your electives from the beginning when you first start here.
I feel like I have people to support me, everywhere around here. Like I have the Academic Success Coach. I have my advisor. I have people from the Career Development Center. I have people from the Wellness Center, who are here to support me. So I feel like my first year experience is amazing.
So the College of Business is actually accredited through AACSB, which is one of the highest accreditations that colleges can get. And we are one of the smallest schools on that list for accreditation.
The Student Managed Investment Fund, we call it SMIF, because we love acronyms here in the College of Business. The trustees many, many years ago, gave $100,000 for the students to invest on their own, under the guidance of an advisor, of course, that we have a board within the students, and they have to give a report a presentation at the end of each year to our board of trustees, the finance committee, and that's very nerve wracking for students but it's fantastic experience for them. And it's a great resume builder.
If you are a student in the College of Liberal Arts, the School of Engineering, the School of Art Design and you add a minor in Business Administration, that means that once you complete that minor at the end of your four years of undergrad, you are now eligible to apply for the MBA program as well.
We do use our industry expertise in the the teaching classroom. It's wonderful for them to learn through books but also to hear actually how it happens in the real world, how experiences from our faculty, it brings the classroom more alive.
