The Alfred University Forest People Outdoor club is the oldest club on campus founded in 1972. And the club is able to provide all equipment, pay for all travel and all food for a variety of camping, hiking, backpacking trips. Some students are really into rock climbing. We've gone zip lining and whitewater rafting. Those experiences are really rewarding to me. I get to know students really well outside of the classroom, as well as inside of the classroom.
The bike hub is a great student run organization. They rent bikes. They fix bikes. They let you store bikes down there. It's a great service and like I said Alfred's a really likable campus.
The Equestrian Center offers many classes, and they look for students to compete on teams at all levels, whether they've never--they're very new at riding horses, or they're much more advanced. And Alfred University successfully recruits students from all over the country.
Wild About Alfred, WILD stands for Wilderness Immersion, Learning and Discovery. It is a faculty staff run initiative to help educate our students on the outdoor recreation opportunities that are here on campus and in the surrounding area.
Alfred University has an observatory on campus, and it's open to students and community members. And there are courses that students can take, you know, astronomy labs or so forth. They can study astronomy, through physics and astronomy departments, but it's also available for prospective students to see an observatory they may have never seen an observatory before, and it's neat that AU has an observatory many small schools do not.
The students just need to understand that five minutes outside does a wonder of good for your mental health and your emotional well being.
