So we have counseling services available to students through the Wellness Center. It's free to students to utilize services. It's actually included as part of their tuition. So you never have to pay anything as a student to see one of our counselors.
In terms of holistic wellness, it has to be, mind, body and spirit. It has to be all together. So right now in the Wellness Center, we have four counselors for the Counseling Center. On the wellness side, we have nurse practitioners, RNs and an LPN. So we in the Wellness Center, make sure that students have physical needs addressed, as well as their emotional needs. We also have a Saxon success coordinator who is going to be serving as a case manager for students that just need a little extra help.
My favorite part of his job is connecting with students, and not only connecting with them, but having that connection be genuine, authentic and meaningful, and having them come back and know that I'm somebody that they can trust. I know, I've had great experience with counselors, and so I want to continue that on. I want to be that person for somebody else.
And, you know, we believe strongly that being healthy, it leads to a lot of other good things in terms of just how you feel, and the things that you're able to accomplish and stay on task with. And whether that's a biking, hiking, kayaking, you know, whatever it might be, you can do that all within a few miles of our campus.
As somebody who's from New York City, and came to Alford without even touring the campus. It was intimidating. It was scary. And I think because of that, I didn't use the resources that were here. And so I did a lot of things on my own that I really didn't have to, and so I want to be the plug, essentially, that connects you to the rest of the campus.
