Hi my name is Justin-- I worked for Corning Incorporated and I went to Alfred University.
My best career fair tip is to talk to companies that you might be potentially intimidated by.
I came and talked to Corning Incorporated my first year as a freshman, and now I work for them.
So I went where I didn't think I was gonna fit in but ended up fitting in great.
I am Megan Wilson.
I am a ceramic staff engineer at Kohler company, and I'm currently our superintendent of our tank plant.
I choose students from Alfred because of the curriculum and the classes they've already taken.
And they already have that background knowledge that we're looking for.
There'll be more successful engineers.
I'm Chris Robinson.
I'm with Unifrax-- a graduate from Alfred University in ceramic engineering. Unifrax chooses students from Alfred.
The most obvious reason is because Unifrax makes glass and Alfred's is the only school in the nation that offers a degree in glass engineering science.
The rigor that the students go through here at Alfred, and I know that firsthand, translates very well to industry.
Alright, my name is Adam Schrader, I'm from Owens Corning.
We look for people that are flexible, as well as knowledgeable in the fields of glass and ceramics.
The best career fair tip I have is do your research, know what the companies produce as far as products, and know what kind of people they're looking for.
How I got to the position that I'm at right now at Corning?-- Was freshman year, I came to the career fair and talk to one of the current recruiters here. From there, I stayed in contact with him.
I met up with him sophomore year as well.
I ended up working for him that summer.
I got directed to a different part of Conring Incorporated for my junior year, and senior year received an offer for full-time employment.
I feel that the CDC is very valuable to students, you have the opportunity to go get your resume checked and revised.
And they set up interviews for you, and host these career fairs where you get the opportunity to meet employers that you wouldn't meet, and give you way more opportunities than you would otherwise.
I feel the value that the CDC brings to the students at Alfred's All in the People.
I've never met folks who care more about students.
You're doing a great job.
